Company Overview
The company is a leading provider of end-to-end renewable energy solutions, having undertaken projects in 40+ countries, and to date has completed over 1000 projects. It is partnering with a leading tech organisation in Europe and drawing on extensive expertise in the renewable energy sector to establish a state-of-the-art R&D laboratory focused on evaluating the reliability, testing, and certification of solar PV modules in India.
- The project aims to offer testing services in compliance with a range of national and international standards, differentiating itself from other laboratories by providing top-quality services, value-added features, and unparalleled credibility in testing.
- The primary focus of the business will be on Solar PV module manufacturers, but it will also cater to other stakeholders in the solar PV industry, including developers, EPC contractors, independent consumers, utilities, banks, private buildings/institutions with large-scale installations, and Government SPPDs.
- The laboratory will be situated in Maharashtra and will occupy a land area of roughly 45,000 square feet, which has already been identified by the company.
- Large format modules can be easily accommodated in the laboratory's big environmental chambers without compromising on quality or project timelines. In addition, the laboratory will feature a dual light source vertical system for hot spot endurance testing, and a world-class flasher capable of testing N-type, HJT, and Perovskite cell technologies, which are expected to dominate the market in the future.
- Currently, India has 11 certification laboratories for BIS (Indian Standards) and only two for IEC & UL (International Standards). The lab will become the third facility in India with capabilities for testing and certifying IEC & UL standards. Most of the existing laboratories may have outdated testing equipment, whereas the project will have state-of-the-art testing equipment to cater to new and upcoming PV technologies and module sizes.
Product or Technology Overview
The proposed laboratory will offer a wide range of services to its target customers, including:
- Qualification type test approval
- Extension testing sequences for adding components
- Extended reliability test programs
- Additional independent tests for design and safety
- Creation of primary reference modules for machine calibration
- Flash tests for module power output comparison
These services will provide valuable insights and support to clients across the industry, helping to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance in their solar PV projects.
